TORONTO — Bella Vendetta’s directorial debut, “The Training of Poe,” has received an honorable mention at the Toronto International Porn Film Festival, which was formerly known as the Feminist Porn Awards.
According to a representative, the festival aims to broaden the conversation about positive and ethically produced pornography and celebrates performers and directors from a diverse variety of backgrounds.
The “Training of Poe” made its Canadian debut at the Toronto International Porn Film Festival. In May, the title will be shown to a class at Oberlin College. Then, Vendetta will talk about how the title “queers progressive sexual education.” After, selected scenes will be shown at the San Francisco Bay Area Sex Workers Film Festival.
Additionally, critic Lynsey G. praised the title and said, “To be honest, I’d never considered myself as a candidate for lifestyle submission before. And I’m still not convinced that I have what it takes. But witnessing the consensual exchange of power in ‘The Training of Poe,’ and the skill with which Mistress Vendetta handled what Poe gave her to deliver exactly what she needed, really made me rethink that position. Everyone deserves this kind of joy, and maybe some of us need to rethink how to get it.” To read the full review, click here.
