LOS ANGELES — Sex eductator and Wicked Pictures contract performer jessica drake is urging adult industry members — including opponents of California’s Proposition 60 — to join Team Wicked at the annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles on Oct. 23. The fundraising event will begin at 10 a.m. at Grand Park, located at 200 N. Grand Ave. in Downtown Los Angeles.
Drake is an opponent of Proposition 60, which will be on California’s state ballot on Nov. 8. The measure, if passed, would require the use of condoms in all adult films shot in California.
Proposition 60, a spokesperson for drake said, could “prove to have devastating ramifications to the adult entertainment industry as a whole” and “has the potential to create an avalanche of lawsuits that could cost the state millions.”
In 2015, Team Wicked raised $15,416 for AIDS Walk Los Angeles — and in the last four years, a drake spokesperson said, it has raised almost $70,000 altogether. The money was donated to AIDS charities.
This year, Team Wicked has raised more than $14,472 so far and is hoping to raise $25,000. As Team Wicked's leader, drake herself has exceeded her personal goal and has raised more than $6400, according to a spokesperson.
Those interested in donating may visit team Wicked’s AIDS Walk L.A. page at this link.
“Team Wicked is again taking to the streets to join AIDS Walk Los Angeles to raise awareness of the great need for support of AIDS charities,” drake said. “We encourage industry members to get their walking shoes on and join us for a day of giving. We will also voice our support of efforts to defeat Prop. 60 with our ‘No on Prop. 60’ t-shirts, banners and signs. We are in the final stretch of the movement to stop this power grab to drive the adult industry from California; so please join us and make your voice heard."
In addition to drake, Team Wicked includes Asa Akira, Vanessa Veracruz, Brandy Aniston, Ryan Driller, Brad Armstrong, Katrina Jade, Tyler Nixon, Alison Rey, Venus Lux and Alexis Fawx, among others.
Drake is a highly sought after sexual wellness speaker and educator who lectures at universities, seminars and workshops around the world. She is the writer, producer and director of the video series “jessica drake's Guide to Wicked Sex,” which has received critical acclaim and been featured in XBIZ and Fleshbot.com as well as mainstream outlets such as The Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan and Refinery29.
Established in 1985, AIDS Walk Los Angeles was the world’s first walk dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS. Over the last 31 years, the event has raised more than $79 million for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and advocacy programs. For more information, visit APLA.org or LA.AIDSWalk.net.
