LOS ANGELES — London’s Skirt Club, described as an “underground play party for bisexual and bi-curious women,” has announced the launch of its new Los Angeles location.
An official debut party will be held this Thurs., Sept. 22 from 7-11 p.m. at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood. The invitation-only event will feature specialty cocktails and burlesque performances.
At the event, hypnotist Grace Smith “will discuss the empowering freedom of owning one's sexual identity and choices,” a spokesperson for Skirt Club said.
"Women in general are interested in each other, particularly with the bi-curious and bisexuality trend among women that's become so prevalent in pop culture today," said Genevieve LeJeune, founder of Skirt Club. "But sexual exploration can be difficult when you're concerned about safety and privacy. And where do you have the opportunity to meet these women?"
Skirt Club's private community and exclusive network was launched by LeJeune launched in 2014 in London and has since expanded with locations in New York City, Sydney and Miami.
A Skirt Club spokesperson said, “Enthusiastic word-of-mouth has driven Skirt Club's thriving attendance numbers, and its parties are now a popular monthly event in London, while New York City's smashing success after only six months suggests a similar schedule is on the horizon. Los Angeles is now the next major step.”
LeJeune said that to become a member of Skirt Club, one must undergo an approval process. In order to protect members’ privacy, no cameras are allowed inside events.
"We're excited to bring Skirt Club to Los Angeles, and we hope that L.A. women enjoy the empowerment of opening up to each other in a completely unique and supportive way," LeJeune said.
