TORONTO — Porno Dan’s adult-themed documentary series “The Right Hand” has been enjoying international exposure, making its way from North America to Brazil and Italy.
“The Right Hand” follows the activities of a new production assistant working for Porno Dan’s company Immoral Productions. The activities of the assistant as well as Dan and his performers are documented in the series, which first aired on Canadian late-night television in the early 2010s.
Airing in 2011 and 2012 on Movie Central and The Movie Network’s MExcess, the show went on to run on Brazil’s Globosat for two seasons in 2014-2015 and for one season on TVN in Poland in 2015.
Earlier this year, “The Right Hand” began airing on Sky Italia in Italy — where it airs under the Italian-language title “Lo Stagista del Porno” (“The Porn Intern”).
“I am very thankful to Richard Arnold for believing in me and giving me this wonderful opportunity,” Porno Dan said. “I truly enjoyed my experience working with him and his fine crew alongside all the others in the adult industry who were a part of it. I am very proud of the fact this show is being seen all over the world, and am grateful I have been involved in other TV and movie projects as result.”
Season One of “The Right Hand” focuses on recent film school graduate Brandon MacIntosh as he gets a foot in the door of the adult film industry. Hired as Porno Dan’s production assistant with no experience, MacIntosh is thrown out of his element and into the world of adult entertainment.
In the first season’s finale, MacIntosh is asked to stay on, but his answer is not revealed.
The second season of “The Right Hand” sees MacIntosh’s return, but not for long. Porno Dan and MacIntosh go their separate ways, and Dan hires a new production assistant named Chris Martino— who learns about the adult business via a trip to Prague, a legal battle, set life, and a glimpse into Dan’s family life.
“The Right Hand” was created by Executive Producer Richard Arnold and Matt Austin Sadowski. Season two is directed by Sadowski, with guest direction from Kai Soremekun.
