WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — Flirt4Free parent VS Media has announced the company’s acquisition of Gay.com and Gay.net from Here Media for an undisclosed sum.
Since 1997, Gay.com has been a personals, chat, and news resource for the gay community online, that after transitioning to Here Media in 2009, primarily focused on dating and news by providing sourced content from Here Media’s other properties, such as Out Magazine, The Advocate, and Pride.com.
Over the past 20 years, VS Media has built a robust community of millions of webcam chat users, which includes a very vibrant and engaged gay customer base — making it a top provider of gay webcams and fostering affiliate relationships with many gay studios, news outlets, blogs, and retail products.
According to VS Media Owner Gregory Clayman, these resources, technology, and commitment to the gay community, puts VS Media is in the best position to take this domain and fulfill its great potential.
“This site will take a lot of time and effort to live up to its name,” Clayman says, “but we fully intend to maintain the integrity and the community spirit that Gay.com has built up over the years.”
Clayman says that he intends to turn Gay.com into a mainstream, lifestyle site, with user generated content and interactivity, where beyond its experience in adult video chat, VS Media will branch out into the mainstream space to service a much larger online community.
“This is a new venture for us, which is both sensitive and exciting,” Clayman adds. “This is one piece of a larger plan to extend our brand as a technology and media company.”
Representatives from VS Media will be attending the QWEBEC Expo in Montreal on August 4-7 and the European trade shows in September.
