SAN FRANCISCO — Bay Area-based retailer Good Vibrations will host a reception and community conversation at their Palo Alto location at 534 Ramona St. on Sun., Jul. 16 from 4-6 p.m., featuring Kitty Stryker and hosted by Dr. Carol Queen, Good Vibrations’ staff sexologist. The event, which is free and open to the public for anyone who is 18 or over, will address the topic of sexual consent.
“Good Vibrations believes that consent is sexy and can be part of a sex-positive and pleasure-filled life,” a spokesperson for Good Vibrations said.
Activist Stryker, Good Vibrations said, “has been working tirelessly to promote and teach about consent, and now, she’s creating an anthology of writings about consent culture.” Stryker and Queen, according to Good Vibrations, will share “useful ideas about creating a consent-based sex life as well as inspirations for action.”
In 2014, Good Vibrations said, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law California Senate Bill 967, requiring California colleges to adopt rape-prevention policies that include an “affirmative consent” standard for sexual assault, the “Yes Means Yes” rule.
