LOS ANGELES — The Adult Performer Advocacy Committee (APAC) has announced that its annual election for board membership positions will take place in August.
According to the committee, all APAC members who are interested in running for an elected position should contact APAC no later than July 10, to declare their intention to run.
“APAC is important because it is run by and for adult industry performers,” says APAC President Chanel Preston. “We want to hear from members who are interested in taking on a leadership role, and who will work hard to improve performer rights, safety, wages, and quality of life.”
“We encourage all to apply,” Preston adds, “and are particularly interested in diversity in regard to age, race, gender, and sexuality.”
Open positions include Chairperson, President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
After notifying the committee with their intention to run, nominees will have the opportunity to campaign at the APAC meeting on August 7.
Voting will take place on the APAC website throughout the month of August, and the new board will be announced in September. Incoming board members will work closely with outgoing board members to ensure continuity among positions.
While residency in the Los Angeles area is preferred, those living outside the area are still encouraged to contact APAC.
Among its achievements since 2013, APAC has created a credit union for performers; organized panels on finances, sexual health, and social issues; fought for legislation that benefits performer health; and created the APAC stamp, Performer Bill of Rights, and Performer Code of Conduct.
APAC membership is required to run for a board position and vote in the upcoming election.
