LOS ANGELES — Adam & Eve Pictures, the production division of AdamAndEve.com, has announced that it has secured the film rights to Selena Kitt’s best-selling erotic novel, “Babysitting the Baumgartners.”
With Kay Brandt set to direct the film in early March, “Babysitting the Baumgartners” is the first in a series of erotic tales that landed Kitt on the USA Today and New York Times “Bestseller” lists.
“Babysitting the Baumgartners” is the story of Dr. and Mrs. Baumgartner, a couple very much in love but always open to new and erotic experiences. When their longtime au pair joins them on a sun and sex-filled vacation, she discovers there are ulterior motives for having her there.
“After working with Kay on ‘Safe Landings,’ we knew she was the person to head up this once-in-a-lifetime project,” said Adam & Eve Pictures’ Producer Rachel Vigneaux. “Kay brought her own erotic literature to life in such a sexual, real way that there was no question who should direct ‘Babysitting the Baumgartners.’”
“Selena welcomed me into her publishing company, eXcessica, back in 2014 and opened a major door for me as an author,” said Brandt. “It feels rather magical that we’re collaborating on bringing her book to life.”
“I’d imagined it as a film from the first time I read ‘Babysitting the Baumgartners,’” Brandt explains. “The characters are very real in the book and the story delivers a multitude of passionate and emotional sex scenes. It’s perfect material for an adult feature film.”
According to Kitt, while Fifty Shades of Grey was made into a mainstream, much-anticipated film, many fans were left a little disappointed.
“Why? Well, let’s be honest — because all the ‘juicy parts’ of the book had to be left on the cutting room floor, and the juiciest parts never even got filmed!” Kitt explains. “I’ve been approached before about making my books into adult films, but I’ve never felt right about it until now.”
“Why now?” Kitt confides, “Because it’s in the hands of Kay Brandt, who has won awards for directing adult films, and Adam and Eve, a long-standing brand I know and trust.”
“Selena granting me the rights to make [this film] is awesome,” Brandt concludes. “I’m beyond excited about the entire project. For Adam & Eve to share the vision with me, and believe in it for their next release in the books-to-film line is amazingly cool.”
While Anikka Albrite will play the role of Mrs. Baumgartner, Adam & Eve Pictures will hold a casting call for the roll of Ronnie the babysitter, on February 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Free Speech Coalition offices, 8399 Topanga Canyon Blvd. Suite 302, in Canoga Park, Calif. No RSVP needed.
