LOS ANGELES — Mic.com writer Jenny Kutner recently explored “What Porn Stars Want You To Know About the Difference Between Porn Sex and Real Sex.”
For her article, Kutner interviewed several top adult stars in the process — including Casey Calvert, Chanel Preston, Joanna Angel, Jessie Lee, Jessica Drake, and Kelly Shibari, plus Moe “The Monster” Johnson, and Ryan Driller.
Kutner’s findings shed light on the perceptual disconnect between what happens between porn performers on screen, and what happens between real people in the bedroom.
“The difference between porn sex and real sex is that people in porn are putting on a performance,” Johnson told Kutner. “There’s going to be turned-up screaming, very high-intensity sex, pounding, [and] sometimes verbal assaults, being shared back and forth.”
“People need to realize when we’re on set, there can be anywhere from two to 20 people in the room watching. You have to have a very strong chemistry with the person that you’re working with [because] sometimes, you’ve just met this person 20 minutes ago,” Johnson adds. “It’s not like this is my girlfriend with the lights off. This is opened up, live, direct, cameras, lights, everything in the face. It’s a show.”
