LOS ANGELES — From the red carpet to the awards show stage, Wicked Pictures took the 2016 XBIZ Awards show by storm Friday night, Jan. 15, at the posh JW Marriott LA Live ballroom in Los Angeles.
Prior to the show, Wicked Girls jessica drake and Asa Akira hit the star-studded red carpet to interview the biggest names in adult entertainment. As the event's official red carpet hosts, they combined thoughtful question-and-answer sessions with sexy, upbeat humor.
Hosted by industry sensation Stoya, the gala stayed true to XBIZ magazine’s goal of “honoring the influential companies and performers who play an essential role in the growth and popularity of adult entertainment around the globe.”
Contract writer, director and performer Stormy Daniels' epic Wicked / Adam & Eve co-production "Wanted" swept the night's feature film categories, winning five major awards. Among them was the show's greatest video honor, Feature Movie of the Year. XBIZ applauded Wicked and Adam & Eve for gambling on a period piece and congratulated the sharpshooting director / star "for coming up with nothing but aces in a raucous throwback that sets a new bar for porno Westerns." Daniels received Director of the Year — Feature release, while veteran performer Stephen St. Croix earned Best Actor — Feature Release. The movie also earned Best Music (featuring work by Brendon Miller and the Wicked Outlaws) while Best Art Direction went to the team of Kylie Ireland, Andy Appleton and veteran Wicked contract filmmaker Brad Armstrong.
The evening saw Axel Braun's Wicked Comix imprint earning four major accolades, with both Parody Release of the Year and Director of the Year — Parody going to the mainstream crossover hit "Batman v. Superman XXX: An Axel Braun Parody."
