LOS ANGELES — The Pleasure Chest is looking to fill the position of national buying and merchandising manager at its national office in Los Angeles by Jan. 1.
“It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our national buying and merchandising manager, Robin Jennings, who will be moving on from the Pleasure Chest after V-day 2016,” the company says. “In her six years with the Pleasure Chest she grew from supervising the flagship location in Los Angeles to overseeing the product selection and merchandising nationwide. She will be greatly missed!”

Principal Responsibilities:
The Buying and Merchandising Manager is a member of the Pleasure Chest’s national management team. The position’s focus is to curate and maintain a relevant, diverse and innovative range of products in all Pleasure Chest stores with attention to local demographics, develop and implement national merchandising initiatives and maintain monthly partner program.
Minimum Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of Pleasure Chest's product range
- Previous buying and/or adult product sales experience
- Merchandise planning and mapping, including specialty/promotional display creation
- Fluency with Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively across channels
- Project Management, multi-tasking and independent decision-making expertise
- Ability to supervise and manage projects remotely
- Experience with Eagle POS and Inventory Management Software a plus
- Illustrator and Photoshop experience a plus
- Experience importing products/overseeing private labeling a plus
- Travel to remote locations in New York and Chicago as well as product shows required
Scope of Work:
Buying and Merchandising Manager will lead the following nationwide initiatives:
Product Selection and Upkeep
- Maintain Pleasure Chest’s product selection with attention to cost, function, quality, profitability, demand and diversity
- Oversee product pick up and discontinuation
- Oversee private label product development
- Report monthly on product success nationwide
- Provide consistent product information to stores
- Attend relevant product shows
- Maintain vendor relations
Merchandising
- Oversee merchandising initiatives in all locations with special attention to representation of partner products, feature areas and seasonal merchandising
Ordering/Receiving
- Coordinate weekly, seasonal and special orders in all locations within set budgets
- Coordinate with vendors on terms, ordering schedules, PO follow up and stocking issues
- Oversee receiving of product nationwide
National Training
- Oversee training and product testing nationwide
Personnel
- Administer new hire processes, training, benefits, and supervision in purchasing department and provide supervisory support to receiving teams nationwide
- Implement company policy and administer yearly performance reviews in purchasing department
