LOS ANGELES — Director Will Ryder's "Manson Family XXX" will hit stores November 4th through Pulse Distribution.
Set in 1969, the feature explores how Manson cultivated his utopian community of young women and willing gents ready to carry out his instructions and sexual fantasies.
The trailer is available here.
Ryder said the movie has been long delayed in DVD format due to a series of legal threats that were overcome after they were deemed without merit. He added the movie "is now safe for distribution."
“Lot’s of people are fascinated with Manson,” Ryder said. “There’s nothing wrong with that fascination but I’m blown away at the size of the audience. People are thirsty for more information and more insight into this era."
The movie stars Sarah Vandella as Linda Kassabian, Nadia Styles as Ruth Ann Moorehouse, Cassidy Klein as Gypsy, Maya Grand as the runaway, Gaia as the housekeeper, and Judas as Susan Atkins.
"Manson Family XXX" has already drawn criticism and as Ryder points out, the NBC television series "Aquarius" starring David Duchovny this summer also received early condemnation but then critical praise when it aired this past summer.
The movie was shot at the actual Spahn Ranch grounds where Charles Manson and his family lived in 1969 when they committed the murders. Ryder said there have been numerous works about the controversial subject.
“"I'm telling parts of the Manson Family story just like the authors and producers of over eighty books, movies and television documentaries have told over the years," he added. "Just because we are in the porn business shouldn't restrict us from telling stories or showcasing a viewpoint however controversial."
