Flirt4Free’s Parent Sells VS.com, VS.net Domain Names

Flirt4Free’s Parent Sells VS.com, VS.net Domain Names

CALABASAS, Calif. — VS Media Inc., the operator of Flirt4Free, has sold a pair of long-held two-letter domain names, VS.com and VS.net, for an undisclosed sum.

The Calabasas, Calif.-based adult live cam company sold the domains to Wang Yong of China, who told XBIZ that he plans on offering video-game services on the newly purchased domain names.

Yong and VS Media’s CEO and president, Gregory Clayman, both declined to reveal selling prices, citing they are bound by non-disclosure agreements.

Clayman told XBIZ that the VS web addresses became expendable after the company surmised that there likely was client confusion between the Video Secrets and Flirt4Free brands.

“For years, VideoSecrets was the name of our affiliate program for our live flagship site, Flirt4Free.com, as well as our content console leasing division,” Clayman said. “When the leasing of content consoles declined in popularity, we felt that there was some confusion between Flirt4Free and VideoSecrets.

“Given this, we chose to focus all of our efforts on branding Flirt4Free and therefore branding our webmaster destination Affiliates.Flirt4Free.com.”

Two-letter domain names are perhaps the most valuable of all Internet addresses, and both VS.com and VS.net are indeed in the blue-chip category.

Each of the top-level suffixes include only 676 domains.

The first company to own an active two-letter domain was Hewlett-Packard in the 1990s.

Later, companies like American Airlines (AA.com), retailer Hennes & Mauritz (HM.com) and Deutsche Bank (DB.com) scooped up and purchased respective two-letter domains on the secondary market for large sums.

Retailer Victoria's Secrets apparently did not bid or was not a winning bid for VS.com or VS.net. It continues on with the domain VictoriasSecret.com.
