LOS ANGELES — Adam & Eve Pictures is releasing an adult soap opera from Will Ryder called "The Young & the Rest of Us" first via video-on-demand then later in a collection of DVDs.
The ongoing series is the creation of the writer/producer/director Ryder and features a steamy and controversial slice of life in the small university town of College Grove.
Steven St. Croix plays the university president and faces a host of problems including corruption charges, a drug addicted alcoholic wife (Holly Heart) political ambitions and three college age kids (Bentley, Katerina Kay, Tyler Nixon) that constantly have sex with their friends and professors when they're not getting high.
"This is the closest thing we've done to real life and were not talking about a Jimmy Stewart movie type of life. This is edgy stuff," said Ryder who along with production partner Scott David best known for their parody comedies, produced the soap series for Adam & Eve Pictures.
A YouTube trailer is available now here.
The first six episodes will feature a large ensemble cast starring Holly Heart, Bentley, Katerina Kay, Chloe Amour, Sarah Vandella, Anya Ivy, Nikki Daniels, Josie Jagger, Gemma Jolie, Christie Stevens and Vyxen Steel. Steven St. Croix is joined by Tyler Nixon, Chad White, Alec Knight, Seth Gamble, Nick Manning, and Ryan Mclane. Additional actors and actresses will join the cast as new episodes are created and the storylines evolve.
"No matter what types of storylines we pursue, the main emphasis is to create compelling characters that viewers really want to watch having sex," Ryder said.
Production partner Scott David and Red Bud agreed.
"This project was a massive undertaking and we've never done anything like it because it showcases the often brutal realities of real life with major family issues and the human condition," David said. "The story is anything but typical and I almost get nervous thinking where Will Ryder is going to take this thing next but I know it will be very entertaining."
Adam & Eve's executive producer Red Bud added, "Adam & Eve is a company that is willing to breathe life into what customers are asking for. We have a very visible brand known for quality projects many aimed at couples but when we read the script we knew we had to produce this soap opera. I think it will appeal to a wide audience and they're going to get hooked."
"The Young & the Rest of Us" is part of an effort by Adam & Eve to bring quicker entertainment bites for customers looking for new formats of adult entertainment. The first episode is being released later today at adamevevod.com.
Last week Adam & Eve Pictures and Will Ryder released a full-length original comedy, "Love, Sex & TV News" about the sexy exploits of a Los Angeles television news station. That movie is available online and on DVD in stores now. The trailer is available here.
