DALLAS — Exxxotica Dallas was the franchise’s most successful debut in its 10-year, 26-show history, its organizer said.
The show, sponsored by MyFreeCams.com, featured 170 adult stars and 100,000 square feet of exhibition space at the Dallas Convention Center. ArrangementFinders.com sponsored a “Ladies Free Friday” promotion, which boosted the first day’s attendance and helped get the word out.
Exxxotica Director J. Handy explained that in the weeks leading up to its Dallas’ debut, the show, and the opposition to it, was covered on every major network newscast, talked about on dozens of radio stations and written about in every newspaper and countless blogs.
It was the largest pre-show media coverage Exxxotica had ever seen, he said.
When the show opened its doors on Friday night, the media maelstrom continued as hundreds lined up to be among the first to enter the exhibit hall to enjoy Exxxotica, Handy noted.
But just as men, women and couples lined up to enjoy themselves, they were greeted by religious protestors in the convention center lobby who did not agree with their decisions to celebrate sexy, he said.
Handy said protesters showed up holding up placards quoting scriptures alongside others reading with anti-gay slurs.
Some quoted scriptures while others hurled hypocritical insults such as “you deserve rape,” he said.
“We want to thank all of those who chose to exercise their right to free speech, and to attend and support our show, but also to conduct themselves as incredibly as they did,” he said. “I think everyone would agree, the things being said by the protesters who were outside the convention hall were far more offensive than what was going on inside.”
Exxxotica will return to the New Jersey Exposition and Convention Center in Edison, N.J., on Nov. 13-15 for its 8th straight year.
