Flava Works had previously distributed its titles exclusively through 1 Distribution.
Flava Works COO Dekenric Wiley said the decision to bring distribution in-house will help the company better serve its brand as well as it retailers.
“We grew to a point where it just makes sense to distribute ourselves,” Wiley said. “We have a very recognizable brand, cross-promoting our websites with DVDs and magazines and doing a lot of promotions in clubs and at events. Self-distributing will only help us to reach even more people and enable us to give more personalized attention to individual stores.”
Flava Works, which focuses on the black and Latin gay niches, recently opened a new Miami warehouse to handle the increased distribution load. The company also tapped Jeff Fisher, a 35-year industry veteran to serve as its national sales director.
In the meantime, Flava Works, which boasts a catalogue of more than 32 black and Latin DVD titles, received a GAYVN nomination for its “Chino’s Dorm” series.
Flava Works releases one new title per month.
