LOS ANGELES — Xander Corvus and August Ames have been cast in the lead roles for Adam & Eve’s feature film, “Safe Landings,” director Kay Brandt confirmed Tuesday.
Corvus and Ames both secured the parts during auditions last week at the Free Speech Coalition offices in Canoga Park. Brandt also revealed the supporting cast would feature Brenda James, Marcus London, Ryan McLane and Alison Rey.
“I had some surprises for sure,” Brandt told XBIZ.
“Safe Landings” explores the psychological and deep sexual connection between survivors of a tragedy. It’s an adaption of Brandt’s erotic romance novel of the same name that will be released as an e-book in August through Excessica Publishing, which is owned by New York Times best-selling author, Selena Kitt. A paperback version and audiobook are also in the works.
Corvus won the 2015 XBIZ Best Actor – Couples-Themed Release Award for his work in “The Sexual Liberation of Anna Lee” (New Sensations). He also captured the 2012 Best Supporting Actor honor in addition to being named Best Male Newcomer that year.
“It’s pretty well known that Xander is the best of the younger performers in the business as far as acting goes,” Brandt said. “He’s got that certain something, that certain kind of fire and spark in his eyes. And he’s got a ton of charm.”
Brandt continued, “The big surprise for the female lead was August Ames. … She gave the best audition out of all the girls. She has a real presence about her.
“She very much has what Xander has and her reading was right on the money. She wasn’t shying away from the darker, emotional aspects of the dialogue.
“I had a really nice connection with her. It’s important as a director to feel like it’s someone I can really work with and who has the desire to act. If she pulls it off it’s going to really be a special thing.”
Ames, a 2015 nominee for Best New Starlet, will also be doing her first sex scene with two guys in the movie, Brandt said.
“Safe Landings” tells the story of a married flight attendant who reunites with the young, engaged woman she saved from an airplane crash. Their mutual emotional support for each other leads to psychological dependency that spirals into a sexual relationship. When their affair escalates, the women find themselves in a dangerous situation that could change their lives.
Brandt, who has written, produced and directed more than 40 titles since 2009, will be helming her first adult movie in more than two years when principal photography begins July 24. In addition, it will be the first time she is directing a movie with boy/girl sex scenes; she wrote the screenplays for dozens of boy/girl movies while at Digital Playground.
The director said the cover of the "Safe Landings" e-book and paperback will feature artwork of the same performers from the adult film, which will kick off a new line from Adam & Eve based on erotic romance novels.
Brandt's movie “Cherry” for JewelBox Films/Digital Playground won the 2012 XBIZ Award for All-Girl Release of the Year. In recent years she has become a bestselling author with the release of eight erotic novels.
"Safe Landings" will debut on AdamandEveTV.com this Fall.
