LOS ANGELES — Kay Brandt told XBIZ she’ll hold an open casting call this Monday for a feature film she is writing and directing for Adam & Eve.
Titled “Safe Landings,” the movie will be an adaption of Brandt’s soon-to-be-released erotic novel of the same name. It also marks the first project in a new line of films from Adam & Eve based on best-selling, erotic romance novels.
The auditions are scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. at the offices of the Free Speech Coalition at 8399 Topanga Canyon Blvd. #302 in Canoga Park, 91304. No RSVP is necessary but for questions or sides, contact Brandt at sublime.madness@gmail.com.
Brandt, whose feature “Cherry” for JewelBox Films/Digital Playground won the 2012 XBIZ Award for All-Girl Release of the Year, has written, produced and directed more than 40 titles since 2009. “Safe Landings” will be her first in more than two years.
“The fans I have in the adult world are very loyal and they were happy to follow me into the literary world,” said Brandt, who has become a bestselling author with eight erotic novels already on her resume.
“Safe Landings” will be released as an e-book in late July through Excessica Publishing, a renowned publishing company owned by Selena Kitt, a New York Times and USA Today best-selling erotica author. A paperback version and audiobook are also in the works.
“There will be a ton of cross promoting between the film and book,” Brandt said.
“Safe Landings” explores the psychological as well as the deep sexual connection between survivors of a tragedy, Brandt said.
The synopsis reads, “When a married flight attendant reunites with the young, engaged woman she saved from an airplane crash, their mutual emotional support for each other leads to psychological dependency that spirals into an inescapable romantic and sexual relationship. Their passionate affair escalates, putting the women in a dangerous situation that could change their lives.
“Is the intensity of their lusty connection enough for them to walk away from their relationships? Or will the women decide they can live without each other in the aftermath of what they've already survived?”
Brandt said she is working closely with Adam & Eve’s Head of Production Rachel Vigneaux on the project, noting they share the same vision for adapting erotic romance novels into adult movies.
“I’ve straddled both sides of the adult content world as a bestselling author and award-winning director,” Brandt added. “I’m in a unique position to be able to pull this off.”
On Monday Brandt will be looking to cast her two younger romantic leads — a male and female in their 20s — among other roles.
“I’ll be looking for people that can handle a heavy load of dialogue and take this seriously, and I need a cast of people that can hit the ground running,” she said.
Brandt has written numerous boy/girl movies for Digital Playground, but “Safe Landings” will be her first directorial effort. Her all-girl movie "Against Her Will" for New Sensations led to a 2013 XBIZ Award for Best Actress for Sheridan Love.
The "Safe Landings" shoot is scheduled for mid-July and the film is slated to debut on AdamandEveTV.com.
