NEW YORK — Despite its fervid public anti-porn stance, the Chinese lead other countries when it comes to watching porn at work.
According to a survey conducted by security company Blue Coat Systems, the country leads the pack of 1580 respondents across 11 countries with 19 percent.
Other top workplace porn watchers included Mexico at 10 percent and the U.K. at 9 percent.
The porn hounds were watching although they were typically aware of the potential security risks to their companies.
"While the majority of employees are aware of cyber security risks, in practice, most still take chances," Hugh Thompson, CTO for Blue Coat said in a statement.
The security firm noted that porn continues to be one of the most popular methods of hiding malware or malicious content. "Even though awareness is high of the threat posed by adult content sites, workers are still visiting these potentially dangerous sites."
In Singapore, 37 percent of respondents used new applications without the IT department's permission, compared to 33 percent in Britain, and 30 percent in India and Mexico.
Among the lowest countries in the study using unauthorized apps were Australia and France at 14 percent and 16 percent, respectively.
