No Trouble Finding Celebrities on .porn Sunrise Registration List

LOS ANGELES — Scores of celebrities, cartoon characters and brand names decided to register new .porn gTLD domain names in the recently concluded sunrise period.

On Sunday, Michael Berkens of TheDomains.com published a news piece revealing some of the top names of entertainment who got on the bandwagon with Taylor Swift, who was the subject of a worldwide news piece when she acquired her stage name’s .porn domain name in early April.

“Lots of the biggest names in the music business joined Taylor Swift in registering their .porn domain including Beyonce, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Cher, Britney Spears, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, Ed Sheeran, Sheryl Crow, James Blunt, The Band Perry, The Beach Boys,” Berkens wrote.

“Jennifer Lopez registered JenniferLopez.porn but there is not a Jlo.porn in the zone file yet.”

He even noted that the estate of the late Marilyn Monroe grabbed a .porn gTLD name, so did fictional names Superman, Batman, Cat Woman, Barbie, Harry Potter, Dick Tracy, Hogwarts and the Aflac duck.

“Other celebs registering .porn domains included: Ellen DeGeneres, who also registered Ellen.Porn and TheEllenShow.porn; Oprah Winfrey, who registered Oprah Winfrey.porn and Oprah.porn; and Whoopi Goldberg registered Whoopi.porn.

Paris Hilton and Richard Branson each got their own .porn names, and so did 96-year-old Billy Graham, who registered BillyGraham.porn.

Berkens said that one of the few industries that did not seem to register a lot of domain names in .porn in the sunrise period were those in the adult space.

“I only found a few sunrise registrations by trademark holders that are in the adult entertainment industry, including Playboy and the websites XVideos.porn and XXXTube.porn.”

Last week, ICM Registry, operator of the .porn and .adult gTLDs, said each received about 4,000 registrations during the sunrise trademark period.
