PHOENIX — This weekend’s Sexual Health Expo has received the Top Pick of the Week for “Things to Do” in Phoenix on AZCentral.com, which is the online home of the Arizona Republic, the state’s largest daily newspaper.
Presented by Mr. Nori's MagicGel, Sexual Health Expo will make its anticipated Phoenix debut this Saturday and Sunday at the Doubletree Resort by Hilton in Scottsdale.
In an article titled, “10 reasons to check out the Sexual Health Expo, 4/25-26,” writer Megan Finnerty says SHE “promises to demystify the mysterious, simplify the complicated and bring humor and #realtalk to the awkward and sometimes shame-filled.”
Then she lists a Top 10 with reasons such as, “No. 1: Learn how to express yourself.”
“A ‘shocking number’ of people essentially are having silent sex, according to sexuality educator Ashley Manta of Los Angeles, who will host ‘Talk Dirty to Me,’” Finnerty writes.
Manta’s session is geared toward teaching couples to become more vocal during sex and finding their own voice and “dirty talk” style.
Another reason to check out SHE is to “Learn how to love your body while making love.”
“First, you have to start working on feeling accepting of your body,” said Elle Chase, a Los Angeles sex educator and coach. “You don't have to be in full acceptance of your body, but you have to be open to starting the process of self-acceptance.”
Chase is teaching the workshop “Big Beautiful Sex: Body Image & Sexuality.”
“The expo is a celebration of normalcy” is another reason to attend, according to Finnerty.
“Most people just want to know if they are normal (which they are), and these kind of events are inclusive, educational and encourage people to learn more about their own sexuality, whether single or with a partner,” said Emily Morse, a sexologist and host of the "Sex With Emily" podcast.
Morse is SHE’s official spokesperson and will be delivering the keynote address on Sunday.
She pointed to another reason to visit SHE, “From tools to techniques, there's a bit of something for everyone.”
“There's a variety of workshops on a range of topics that are more in-depth on issues people really care about yet have no other place to find this kind of information,” Morse told AZCentral. “There are also booths with the latest and greatest products on the market, so they can really see what's out there and make decisions from educated people about what's right for their own sex life.”
Dozens of special guest speakers, sponsored by exclusive retail and sex-ed sponsor, Castle Megastore, will cover several numerous sex-related issues ranging from body acceptance to subjects such as beginner’s bondage at the conference.
SHE also will feature a second track of workshops offering a wealth of information about sexual wellness and couples’ intimacy.
The guest speakers participating in SHE workshops include: Lynn Brown Rosenberg, Dr. Hernando Chaves, Charlie Glickman, Amara Charles, Sunny Megatron & Ken Melvoin-Berg, Sex Nerd Sandra, Rebecca Alvarez, Anaín Bjorkquist, Jamye Waxman, Robin Wilson-Beattie, Nina Helms, Nadine Sabulsky, August McLaughlin, Dr. Jess, Miss Vixen, Laurie Handlers, Betty Louise, Mukee Okan, Schuyler McHenry, Lori C. Ebert and Leela Sullivan.
