HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Following reports of actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s purchase of the Hustler Hollywood Sunset Strip property and plans to turn it into a swanky club, British sex toy brand Hot Octopuss is calling for a boycott against Paltrow’s new venture.
The brand is asking fans to take to Twitter to voice their objection to the star's latest enterprise using the hashtag, #MakeLoveNotClub.
Adam Lewis, founder of Hot Octopuss, said, "We're committed to making the sex industry as buoyant as possible and urge Gwynnie not to shut down one of LA's most famous sex shops. To show the ex Mrs. Martin the power of sex toys, we've sent her our PULSE DUO in the hopes she'll be inviting a different kind of member. Perhaps there will now be a conscious re-coupling on the cards. Gwyneth, join our sexual revolution and make love, not clubs."
Hot Octopuss recently launched a “Sex Not Stigma” initiative on Twitter inviting people to join a global conversation, encouraging couples to talk honestly and openly about their sex lives in order to improve their relationships.
The company also launched a consumer survey and found that 78 percent of those surveyed feel uncomfortable talking to their partners about what they want in the bedroom. Additionally, 69 percent of people feel underwhelmed by, unhappy with, or simply bored of their current sex lives.
