MINNEAPOLIS — Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen's Club is expanding into downtown Minneapolis with a three-level club.
When Spearmint Rhino opens here later this month, the 11,000-square-foot club will have two formal stages, a bar, a VIP section on the mezzanine level, a dining area and private rooms in the basement.
Construction on the new club began in January at the former Lure Show Club at 725 Hennepin Ave., in Minneapolis.
After Lure closed in 2013, a local entrepreneur who owns several nearby businesses had plans to re-open the club with male and female exotic topless dancing, circus acts, comedians, music performances, poets, burlesque, improvisational skits, mimes, magicians and aerialists. But the deal fell through.
Spearmint Rhino Consulting Worldwide Inc. of Norco, Calif., which picked up the Minneapolis property, operates gentlemen's clubs in the U.S., U.K. and Australia.
The company, founded in 1989, has locations in City of Industry, Los Angeles, Oxnard, Rialto, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Torrance and Van Nuys, Calif.; West Palm Beach, Fla; Boise, Idaho; Dallas; Las Vegas; Lexington; Carter Lake, Iowa; West Bend, Wisc.; Yuma, Ariz.; Melbourne, Australia; and Sheffield, Birmingham, London, and Bournemouth, the U.K.
According to the Spearmint Rhino Minneapolis club’s Facebook page, the club is hiring for all positions, including servers, doormen, bartenders, DJs and support staff.
