SAN FRANCISCO — Hoping to better educate the kink-curious about BDSM practiced in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” books and movie, San Francisco’s Kink University is launching a four-day symposium, "50 Skills of Grey."
The event kicks off next week, following the movie's Feb. 14 release. The producers said the live classes — available as a package or individually — will teach a diverse list of skills, from basic bondage to designing one’s own “red room of pain.”
"For all ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ lacks in BDSM authenticity and consent, it makes up for in its numerous 'teachable moments' that will let sex educators help kink-curious people, with workshops like the 50SkillsofGrey.com symposium,” said Danarama, head of Kink University.
The hands-on symposium begins with an evening class on Feb.19, a one-hour Introduction to BDSM, and concludes on Feb. 22 with a workshop in Adventure Scenes and Abduction Play.
Other workshops cover elevator sex, contracts, dirty talk and coming out kinky on dates.
