LOS ANGELES — Adult performer Kelly Shibari will be the featured guest star for “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” this Thursday, Feb. 12.
The live show showcases improv performers and a special guest from entertainment, politics, service and other industries. It occurs weekly at Las Vegas’ Onyx Theatre and is hosted by Second City alums Derek and Natalie Shipman.
“2015 has started off with invitations to appear on live shows like Derek’s, and it’s been so much fun,” Shibari said. “I’m looking forward to seeing how my experiences as a roadie, a production designer in Hollywood, and the adult industry will be interpreted by an improv team. I’m sure it’s going to be weird, funny and definitely entertaining!”
“Don’t Quit Your Day Job” follows a talk show format, with a special guest interviewed by one of the Shipmans. As the guest shares their workplace tales, a group of improvisors recreate events on the spot, often to “hysterical and enlightening results.”
“Everyone’s had one of those jobs — the one with stories so ridiculous nobody would ever believe them,” Derek Shipman explained. “Truth is indeed stranger, and funnier, than fiction. We’re putting those stories on stage.”
“We are thrilled to have Kelly as a guest on our show,” he added. “She’s absolutely charming and is ready to wow us with incredible stories.”
“Don’t Quit Your Day Job” starts at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 12.
Tickets are $10 and are available through the Onyx Box Office on the night of the performance; advance tickets are available here.
