LAS VEGAS — The company behind XVideos.com keeps scooping up similar domain names and taking over adult tube site enterprises with their massive amounts of traffic.
The latest tube site to be taken over is XVideos.net, perhaps the top prize in an anti-cybersquatting assault waged over the past two years by WGCZ S.R.O., which has held a U.S. trademark on “ XVideos” since 2012.
WGCZ operates scores of other adult tube sites, including XNXX.com, and is based in Czechoslovakia and has U.S. operations in Las Vegas.
In the past year WGCV has taken over XVideos.nu, XVideosDaily.com, XVideosToday.net, New-XVideos.com, X-Videos.com, HD-XVideos and XVideos.co — all highly trafficked tube sites that offered adult fare.
In an apparent settlement, WGCV took over XVideos.net, which had been set for arbitration in a cybersquatting case filed at WIPO.
According to UDRP records, XVideos.net was ordered transferred to WGCV last week.
Attorney Marc Randazza of Randazza Legal Group, who filed the cybersquatting claim on behalf of WGCV, has filed scores of such claims for the company, which has benefited from taking over and re-branding the transferred sites.
Randazza did not disclose the previous operator of XVideos.net, nor terms of the apparent settlement.
“Often, when you file a strong complaint, you find that opposing parties realize the inevitability of the case,” Randazza told XBIZ. “That's why we try to do everything with a strong hand as possible from the beginning.
“Additionally, the opposing party was a reasonable gentleman, so that helps as well.”
