NEW YORK — Adult performer Mia Isabella, the 2011 XBIZ Transsexual Performer of the Year, is published in a candid interview for Reason.com, discussing the depiction of sex workers in video games, specifically her voiceover role in “Grand Theft Auto 5.”

"Feminist critic Anita Sarkeesian has argued that sex workers in video games are commodified and mistreated,” says writer Noah Berlatsky. “However, many sex workers have criticized Sarkeesian's own language, and the way she seems to suggest that all sex workers are brutalized victims.”
Berlatsky added, “I thought Mia Isabella made the important point that there are real women involved in the production of the games, and that critics should take their voices into account. I thought it was important to realize that for her, as a transgender woman, being asked to participate in the game was a step forward in terms of trans representation.”
