The town has been working for two years to designate a location, and has passed several moratoriums restricting adult entertainment businesses until the board could settle on a place. On Wednesday, the town earmarked Oxbow Road, a remote part of Cicero.
With a population of nearly 30,000, Cicero is located on the southern shore of Oneida Lake nearly six miles from North Syracuse, where numerous adult stores are located. So far, no adult entertainment businesses with the exception of video stores have moved into Cicero, however.
“[The resolution] is protection for the town of Cicero,” said Cicero Councilor Jim Corl. “We’re just looking out for the residents, and we are saying to [adult] businesses that if you want to open up, then you have to use that location.”
