LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures and the lines it distributes have received 75 2015 XBIZ Awards nominations. This impressive tally was achieved through the high-caliber work of the company’s contract directors and talent, the distribution of equally impressive movies by other studios, and successful ventures into emerging markets.
Veteran contract director Brad Armstrong’s relationship drama "Aftermath" led the way for the company’s in-house productions with 13 major nominations. The fine performances, taut direction and strong production values were recognized with nominations for Feature Movie of the Year, Director of the Year – Feature Release, Best Actress (jessica drake), Best Actor (Tyler Nixon), Best Supporting Actress (Brandi Love), Best Supporting Actor (Ryan Driller), Best Marketing Campaign, Best Scene-Feature (jessica drake and Tyler Nixon), Best Editing, Screenplay of the Year, Best Music, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.
Armstrong's second epic for the year, "Holly...Would," earned an additional four nods in such top categories as Feature Movie of the Year, Screenplay of the Year, Best Actress (Asa Akira) and Best Actor (Xander Corvus). On top of that, Armstrong's sexy comedy "Cabana Cougar Club" earned a Couples-Themed Release of the Year nomination, along with another Best Actor nod for Tyler Nixon. The veteran blockbuster creator was also nominated for Director of the Year – Body of Work.
“It's always great being recognized by XBIZ and its reviewers, but honoring myself, cast members and crew with over 20 is amazing,” Armstrong said. “I'm particularly proud they nominated both 'Aftermath' and 'Holly...Would' with Best Feature nods, and jessica and Asa for Best Actress in their respective roles. And of course I'm sort of feeling like a proud papa for the two Best Actor nominations for Tyler Nixon. It should be a great night at the XBIZ Awards!”
Parody specialist Axel Braun received a wealth of attention that spoke to the diversity of his work in the genre during the last 12 months. His maiden release in the Wicked Fairy Tales line, "Snow White XXX: An Axel Braun Parody," received 11 nominations, namely two for Best Actress (jessica drake, Riley Steele), Best Actor (Barrett Blade), Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Director of the Year –Parody, Best Editing, Best Marketing Campaign, Parody Release of the Year- Drama, and two for Best Scene-Parody (Riley Steele & Ryan Driller, and Alec Knight, Ash Hollywood & Katie St. Ives). Writer-director-producer-host jessica drake’s acclaimed sexual wellness series "jessica drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex" was honored with a Specialty Release of the Year nominations for her innovative "Guide to Wicked Sex: Plus Size." In addition to her Best Actress nods for "Aftermath" and "Snow White XXX," Drake's enduring popularity was further recognized with a Crossover Star of the Year nomination.
"I'm so honored to have been recognized by XBIZ this year! I got two acting noms from two of my favorite—and very different movies—'Aftermath' and 'Snow White XXX,'" Drake said. “I was also nominated for a sex scene in 'Aftermath' with Tyler Nixon, along with Crossover Star. But the icing on the cake was seeing my instructional 'Guide to Wicked Sex: Plus Size' nominated for Best Educational release. I'm truly grateful to XBIZ for the noms, and Wicked for their support and encouragement!"
The newest member of the Wicked Family, Asa Akira, earned both Female Performer of the Year and Crossover Star of the Year nominations in addition her Best Actress honors for "Holly...Would."
"I'm so happy about the nominations! This was my first full year with Wicked Pictures, and I'm glad to see the XBIZ team enjoyed it as much as I did," Akira said. "I'm especially excited for my Best Actress nomination, because it's one I don't think people would expect!"
Other lines distributed by the company, including Marc Dorcel and JoyBear Pictures, all received major nominations. In addition to the European Studio of the Year honors received by both studios, Dorcel and JoyBear were responsible for creating every single movie nominated in the European Feature Release of the Year category. For his part, Wicked Pictures President and owner, Steve Orenstein, couldn’t be more pleased with the many nominations earned by his company’s elite team.
“We’d like to thank XBIZ for their recognition of our dedication to creating quality product. On the directing side of the nominations, Brad Armstrong has been instrumental to our success for 20 years and continues to grow as a writer and director," Orenstein said. "I’m also pleased to see Axel Braun, while in his first year with Wicked, continuing his domination of the parody categories and jessica drake continuing to earn nominations for her 'Guide to Wicked Sex' line. On the talent side, I’m very grateful to see our long time contract superstars Stormy Daniels and jessica drake, as well as brand new contract exclusive Asa Akira, continue to shine.”
