LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures contract star Jessica Drake is campaigning for the adult industry to join forces for a Thanksgiving fundraiser.
Drake, still fresh from helping Team Wicked raise thousands of dollars for the 30th Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, has already established donation boxes for Downtown Women’s Center and LA Food Bank at the Wicked Pictures, XBIZ and AVN offices in an effort to encourage members of the adult industry to give back to the community.
“Many people ask a good way to get involved with charity work, and I suggest finding a cause to help promote during the holidays,” Drake said. “It’s the perfect time for people to make a difference, and Thanksgiving definitely ignites the spirit of kindness. I am hoping the L.A. adult entertainment industry will come together to show the world the tremendous positive impact we have on our local community.”
Drake is encouraging other adult performers, production studios and industry workers to drop off goods at one of the established donation locations — or set up their own donation boxes, which Drake will arrange to have picked up.
XBIZ Media Managing Editor Dan Miller has already answered Drake’s call to action, and is excited to be a part of the cause.
"We're delighted to support Jessica's efforts to give back to the community this Thanksgiving,” Miller said. “XBIZ is located in close proximity to downtown L.A., so having our offices serve as one of Jessica's drop-off locations for a charity, such as Downtown Women's Center, is ideal."
AVN Media Chief Operating Officer Janet Gibson reports that she believes in the adult industry’s ability to create change when working together.
The donation period will run from Oct. 28–Nov. 25.
Non-perishable food items will be accepted for the L.A. Food Bank, while the following new or gently used items are requested for the Downtown Women’s Center: silverware, toiletries, bus tokens/bus passes, small storage bins, liquid detergent, cleaning spray, pots and pans, women’s clothes, underwear and bras, sanitary napkins and tampons, shoes sized 9-11 and larger, and miscellaneous household items.
Both non-profit organizations also accept financial donations. To support L.A. Food Bank, click here. To support Downtown Women’s Shelter, click here.
