HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. – IVD/ECN gathered to walk in the spirit of charity during Breast Cancer Awareness Month when Team Boobs r Us participated in its second Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (Central and South Jersey) this past Sunday, Oct. 5 at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J.
Comprised of IVD/ECN staff, friends, and family, Team Boobs R Us boasted 84 registrants who each participated in the 4K track.
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to come together and participate in an inspirational charity event for a cause as important as that represented by Susan G. Komen,” says IVD/ECN Human Resources Manager Sue G., who coordinated team registration and donation for the charity walk. “We had such an incredible time last year, and had been looking forward to it ever since.”
“Breast cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment continues to be a cause that is particularly important to me and my family, as well as the organization,” says IVD/ECN’s Frank K. “I speak for us all when I say that it is our sincerest hope that our collective, year-round efforts will not only rouse awareness, but bring us closer to a cure.”
At this year’s race, Team Boobs r Us raised more than $2,500. IVD/ECN says it celebrated tWEnty w/ Susan G. Komen last year in 2013, and was recognized with the title of “Largest New Group.”
Susan G. Komen is a grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists and the only grassroots organization fighting to cure breast cancer at every stage. The Komen Central and South Jersey affiliate is working to increase mammography in order to save lives through early detection.
