BATH, U.K. — Sex toy retailer Lovehoney has reported that it has experienced rapid expansion over the last two years, more than doubling its workforce from 61 employees in January of 2012 to 144 at present.
And it’s still looking to recruit.
Co-owners Richard Longhusrt and Neil Slateford told U.K.-based news outlet SouthwestBusiness that they have seven vacancies to fill, along with 38 seasonal “pickers and packers” to help out during peak sales times at Christmas and Valentine’s Day.
The vacancies, Longhurst surmised, are due to the competition between digital companies based in the Southwest of England.
He says that although they have a talented pool of potential hires in Bath, where they are located, and in surrounding cities like Bristol and Gloucester, “There is no doubt that as the economy picks up recruitment has become a bigger challenge not only to Lovehoney, but all firms looking for digital talent.”
Lovehoney adds that it may be facing its busiest period yet, with the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie set to premiere in February of next year. Lovehoney has the rights to all official Fifty Shades pleasure products.
The company is now seeking a quality assurance engineer, retail ecommerce analyst, public relations executive, photographer, graphic designer and customer services advisors (ideally with languages), and a slew of seasonal employees to help with taking and shipping orders.
“Many of our vacancies require technical skills but just as important as this knowledge is having the right attitude and being able to work as part of a team," Longhurst said.
