The film will star Raven Riley and Liz Vicious, and may be shot with an R-rating for a possible mainstream theatrical release next year, according to Evil Motion Pictures president Tom Leach.
“I went over a few of the movies Colin had directed in the past and it looked like good work,” Leach told XBIZ of his decision to hire Rowntree. “His work isn’t the cheesy, throw-it-together type movie. They were scripted and they made sense. He’s just a well-known staple in this business.”
Rowntree said he already has done some shooting with the Evil Motion Pictures group.
“They’re very professional,” Rowntree told XBIZ. “They’re not afraid to go the extra mile to produce really high quality stuff. This particular project is a large budget movie, kind of ‘Boogie Nights’ meets ‘Sid Vicious.’ It’s a horror flick with adult content.”
Rowntree said that some of the scenes he’s already shot haven’t been easy.
“We spent 10 days on location in Ohio in the most challenging weather I’ve ever shot in,” he said. “We did exterior shots after dark in 20-degree weather with pyrotechnics and blood spurting everywhere. It was really quite an amazing experience.”
Rowntree praised the Evil group for doing things that are usually neglected in adult films.
“They actually had the principals going in for professional acting training for over two months prior to going on location,” Rowntree said. “Tom [Leach] has some pretty amazing vision and ideas, having watched probably every single horror movie ever made at least once, if not twice.”
Leach said the movie won’t be released for at least six months.
