No Bail for War Machine; Taser Used When Apprehended, Witness Says

Updated: Taser was used in War Machine's apprehension, witness said.

VENTURA, Calif. — War Machine, who was arrested Friday afternoon in Simi Valley, Calif., on suspicion of beating adult performer Christy Mack, will be held without bail.

War Machine’s arraignment has been scheduled for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Ventura County Superior Court on Victoria Street in Ventura, Calif.

Currently, he is being held without bail at Ventura County’s main jail. No visitors are allowed.

War Machine, whose given name was Jon Koppenhaver, was involved in “certain violent and serious offenses” that require a hearing before the inmate can be released, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.

U.S. marshals captured the 32-year-old in the Los Angeles suburb of Simi Valley.

A witness told KTLA-TV that a Taser was involved in the apprehension of War Machine at a local hotel.

“And they were like banging on the door, trying to get it open, and they’re like, ‘Open the door, open the door,” Nicolle Blankenship told KTLA.“Finally when they got it open they yelled, ‘Gun,’ and then all of a sudden you see them shoot him with a Taser. And he got shot with a Taser and he went down to the floor, and then they handcuffed him.”

He was booked into the Simi Valley Jail and transferred to county jail in Ventura while he awaits extradition to Nevada.

He has been charged over Penal Code Section 1551.1 — felony fugitive from justice.

War Machine is the primary suspect in an assault and battery that left his ex-girlfriend, Mack, and her friend with serious injuries.

War Machine showed up unannounced at Mack’s Las Vegas house last Friday and beat her and her friend without saying a word, Mack said.

Mack said that she suffered from 18 broken bones, a broken nose, missing teeth, a fractured rib and a ruptured liver as a result of the hands of War Machine, who is a professional mixed martial artist competing in the welterweight division. He's also a former boyfriend of Mack's and has had scenes in porn productions.
