JAPAN — Porn stars selling their undergarments is nothing new in adult, but Japanese adult studio ZIZ Entertainment has found another way of boosting its revenue stream by auctioning more elaborate garb.
Kotaku.com reported that the company auctioned off stars’ cosplay costumes for thousands of dollars each.
The superhero-like grab appeared in adult gaming-based films “Taimanin Asagi” and “Taimanin Yukikaze."
Typically, porn clothing only gets a few bids in these auctions, but one five-piece outfit got more than 500 bids and reportedly sold for $3,448.
Other outfits worn in the flicks also received more than 500 bids and went for $2,956.
But cosplay movies aren’t the typical adult fair, as American and British star and cosplay porn queen Tanya Tate knows.
Tate told XBIZ that she’s not surprised at the amount that those outfits sold for. “A lingerie set that I wore in a scene sold for more than $600 dollars in auction. So, I can see something as elaborate as a cosplay outfit worn in a movie, selling for a significant amount. There is a collector’s market out there. These look really well made.”
The star added that unfortunately, her cosplay outfits that she wore in “Tanya Tate’s Cosplay Queens” and “Tied Up Teens” will not be for sale. “I need something to wear to Comic Con,” Tate said.
