LOS ANGELES — Smash Pictures announced today that it has officially gone “all-condom,” and has been operating as such for six months.
Smash’s last four releases — “Owner Gets Clipped,” “Doctor MILF,” “Daddy’s Home 2” and “American Hustle XXX: Porn Parody” — have all reflected the new policy. All future releases will follow suit.
“Our sales are stronger than ever, and this hasn’t affected our sales at all,” Smash Pictures' Stuart Wall told XBIZ, explaining that fans have not complained about the change.
According to Wall, part of the success comes from using barely-there condoms. “We use the clearest condoms you can find, leaving it hard for the viewer to even notice they’re on while watching a movie,” Wall said.
All of Smash’s productions are shot as both a hard and soft version for cable sales. The latter, showing no visible penis, is not affected by the all-condom shift. According to studio, the soft versions particularly continue to flourish abroad in Russia, Korea, Australia and on-demand in the U.S.
The news comes just one day after AB 1576, the bill bearing a potential condom mandate for all porn shoots in California, cleared another hurdle in the legislature by passing the state Senate Labor panel.
