LOS ANGELES — Elegant Angel on Wednesday announced that it has amicably parted ways with Drew Kennedy and Gabriel Guzman. Kennedy and Guzman entered a deal last week with Elegant Angel founder and owner Patrick Collins to handle the studio’s management and day-to-day operations.
Collins, who is currently in the midst of a divorce, reconsidered the arrangement with Kennedy and Guzman after consulting with his attorney.
“On the advisement of my lawyer, I have decided to wait for my July 8 court date to make any decisions concerning changes in Elegant Angel’s management and/or personnel,” Collins said. “Drew and Gabriel are great guys, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. We may still enter an agreement at a later date. But, for now, we’re not making any changes. On July 8, a judge is expected to decide on an injunction my ex-wife has against the company that could give me the freedom to exercise any changes to management I deem wise and profitable.”
Drew Kennedy said, “Under the unfortunate turn of events with Pat’s court issues, the decision Patrick has made to wait until his personal matters have resolved is one that I fully support, and I wish Pat the best of luck with everything."
Collins will continue to head Elegant Angel until a settlement is reached in the divorce case, allowing him to weigh his options. “My intention is not to stay in this business. I am working on my documentary, and without the additional help at Elegant Angel, the timetable I had hoped to meet will be more difficult,” Collins said. “But, Elegant Angel will carry on and, for the time being, I will make sure that it continues to produce the quality projects that have made it a leader in this industry for just about 25 years.”
