SAN FRANCISCO — Eros.com announced today that the escort directory is running a series of articles on its blog site by tech writer Violet Blue, offering tips on how to keep identities private.
The articles are directed at performers and escorts, and Blue, who recently published "The Smart Girl’s Guide to Privacy," also plans to take questions from the adult service providers.
The series runs in three installments: “How Private is Your Provider Profile,” “The Two Biggest Threats to Provider Privacy — And How to Fix Them” and, available tomorrow, “A Provider’s Guide to Social Media.”
The series focuses on steps entertainers can take to make sure they aren’t accidentally connecting their professional profile with their civilian one, Katie Lee of Eros.com said.
“Violet’s skill set is unique and we’re lucky to do this series with her,” Lee said. “She’s incredibly well-respected on privacy issues in the tech industry, and she’s familiar with the concerns of adult service providers. This is an important conversation, and we want to make sure that our providers are as secure as they can be in all aspects of their lives.”
Women who work in public are more likely to face online harassment than others, Blue said.
“And because entertainers often have dual personas, it’s doubly important to secure them. I wanted to use this series to raise awareness, and to talk about what can be done,” she said.
