Weed-Infused Lube Hits Market

MARIN, Calif. — Ever wish your sex was trippier? No problem — just get your vagina high.

The first-ever weed-infused lubricant and sexual enhancement product designed specifically for women, “Foria,” has hit the market.

Foria, essentially THC-infused coconut oil, runs a bit pricier than your average gun oil at $88 for a one-ounce spray bottle's worth. Bu then again, it purports not only to lube you up, but possibly turn you on.

“Our proprietary formula was inspired by the historical use of cannabis as an aphrodisiac in traditional cultures around the world,” Foria says on its About page. “This ancient wisdom has been validated by the recent groundswell of scientific research into the health benefits of marijuana. Foria harnesses the complex powers of marijuana to create a potent ‘therapeutic aphrodisiac’.”

Weed’s main active ingredient, THC, mimics the neurotransmitter anandamide, which can cause euphoria and facilitate arousal. The Southern California-based Aphrodite Group helming Foria tested it on about 100 volunteers in and around the Bay Area to verifiy the effect.

Besides producing and bottling the product in a health-inspected facility using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients and techniques, each batch is tested for “purity and potency” by The Werc Shop, a leading independent product testing lab in the medical marijuana industry.

The company recommends users apply 4-8 sprays directly onto the clitoris, inner and outer labia, and inside the vagina (each spray contains around 2 mg THC). Then wait 30 minutes to fully absorb the medicine and relax, "a great time for foreplay or self massage," and finally pleasure yourself alone or with a partner.

Foria is vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, chemical and pesticide-free, 100-percent natural and edible. Its makers also note that in addition to tasting and smelling yummy, coconut oil has a low pH level, a feature that may help fight off yeast infections and bacteria, “thereby promoting natural harmony and balance within the body,” the company says.

Foria is currently only accessible to California residents who qualify for medical marijuana treatment. According to the East Bay Express, some older women are gravitating to the new lube as a means to jumpstart their waning libido — an issue that has not yet found an answer in the form of a designer pill.
