STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Swedish lifestyle brand LELO announced today that its oral sex simulator ORATM has won the A’ Design Awards Platinum Trophy.
The accolade was presented on April 12 in Como, Italy. The company said it is the highest honor given at the awards held this year and the latest victory marks LELO’s third mainstream design award in three years after having won the Red Dot Design award in 2012 and 2013.
Launched in January, ORATM captured imaginations by promising realistic oral pleasures from its sleek and seductive form, with a product demonstration video surging to 400,000 YouTube views in less than four weeks. As shown in the video, LELO’s ORATM works by combining vibrations with swirling/flicking movements from a rotating ‘nub’ concealed underneath a layer of silicone.
Chosen by a panel of academic and professional experts, A’ Design Award-winners are picked for achieving an exemplary level of perfection in areas such as innovation, usability, presentation and ergonomics, Lelo noted.
Award-winners this year included submissions from Nike, Vodafone, Speedo and Bridgestone, while LELO’s ORATM massager received its Platinum Trophy in the Adult Toys and Products Design Competition Category.
"Many thanks to A’ Design and all of the judges for bestowing such a great honor on our ORATM personal massager,” LELO CEO Miroslav Slavic said.
He added, “It is awards like this and all of the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received from customers that further confirm just how amazing ORATM is, and how totally unique it is from every pleasure product on the market today.”
News of the award comes just weeks before the start of LELO’s own design competition; the second annual LELO Design Awards, which will challenge inventors, creatives and designers of every type to present new concepts in sharing and experiencing pleasure and sensual connection.
