BROOKLYN — Babeland locations in New York and Seattle will be giving away solar powered vibrators to their first 25 customers this coming Earth Day, April 22.
“Earth Day is a time when people are paying attention to eco-friendly practices, and it’s a good time to highlight the ways that we can be eco-sexy, too,” Babeland co-founder Claire Cavanah told The Brooklyn Paper.
The Solar Bullet vibrator, which retails for about $34, comes equipped with a mini solar panel that reportedly churns out one hour of green buzzing for every eight hours of sun soaking.
Cavanah noted that the device prevents the addition of more batteries to our overcrowded landfills, helping to reduce our collective carbon footprint and keep orgasms — not our atmosphere — red hot. Additionally, each toy’s packaging meets the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council.
“Although you might want to keep it in a private area for charging, it also isn’t immediately going to cause anyone to blush,” Cavanah said, explaining that the toy doesn’t look alarmingly explicit and can therefore be charged on window sills and other semi-public spaces.
For those willing to ride the extra green mile, Babeland will be giving away packets of lube to shoppers who trek to store via bicycle.
The Babeland NYC giveaway begins at 12 p.m. and will run until supplies run out. The store is located at 452 Bergen St., between Flatbush and Fifth avenues in Park Slope, Brooklyn. For more info, call (718) 638–3820.
