The board meets every other month, and board members volunteer their time. Responsibilities include oversight of key functions for the FSC, strategic planning, approval of annual budgets and the periodic review of progress against strategic goals, according to Executive Director Michelle Freridge.
Nomination ballots were mailed to all FSC members on Oct. 10 and are due back by Oct. 31, according to Freridge. Final ballots will be mailed to members by Nov. 17 and must be returned by Dec. 8.
The incumbent nominees include attorney Jeffrey J. Douglas, the current board chair; Mara Epstein, a business development consultant with XBIZ and Crush; Mark Kernes, senior editor at AVN; Reed Lee, 1st Amendment attorney; and Tim Valenti, CEO of Naked Sword.
Additional board member responsibilities include involvement in six supporting committees: the Executive Committee, the Government and Legal Committee, the Membership Committee, the Internet Committee, the Fundraising Committee and the Public Information Committee.
Each candidate will be running for a two-year term on the FSC governing body.
