BERKELEY, Calif. — Seal Press on Tuesday announced the release of "Book Lovers: Sexy Stories From Under the Covers," a collection of erotic stories edited by award-winning author Shawna Kenney.
Kenney, who earned critical acclaim for the memoir "I Was a Teenage Dominatrix," edited the anthology with literature designed "to engage readers’ brains as well as their bodies."
Seal Press noted that the first installment of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy brought erotica full-force into the mainstream, selling more than 90 million copies. But the publisher said readers are hungry for "more titillating stories with stronger writing and greater substance."
"Now, with 'Book Lovers: Sexy Stories from Under the Covers' readers can finally wave goodbye to poorly written prose and clichéd love scenes," the publisher said.
With contributions from Slash Coleman, Trina Calderón, Cara Bruce, Stephanie Auteri, and former Playmate Izabella St. James, the collection includes a Vonnegut-inspired tryst and an imaginary ménage à trois with Henry Miller and Anaïs Nin.
"Whether they depict a steamy chance encounter in the library stacks or conjure a modern-day reimagining of 'Wuthering Heights'—this time refusing Edgar in favor of lusty, bodice-ripping nights with Heathcliff—the stories in 'Book Lovers' encompass a veritable buffet of literary fantasies," according to Seal Press.
Seal Press was founded in 1976 to provide a forum for women writers and feminist issues, publishing books with the goal of informing women’s lives. Based in Berkeley, Calif., Seal is a member of the Perseus Books Group.
