The Dutch actress first came to the world’s attention in 1974 in the inaugural “Emmanuelle” film. While that role put Kristel on the world stage, it was her work in “Private Lessons,” where she played an immigrant maid who tutors a 15-year-old boy on the subject of sex, that made her a true star of softcore erotic films, Erp said.
According to the Internet Movie Database, “Private Lessons” has grossed more than $50 million worldwide since its 1981 release.
Erp said he chose Kristel for his documentary because she is one of the few Dutch actresses who “made it abroad.”
The as-yet-untitled documentary will cover all aspects of Kristel’s life, Erp said, including her drug addiction, numerous love affairs and her fight against cancer.
Kristel, who recently directed an award winning short film, “Topor and Me,” published her autobiography, “Nue,” in France last month.
