TEMPE, Ariz. — Longtime online marketer Douglas Richter has officially announced that he has joined XCams.com’s parent company as its web cam unit manager.
Richter, who spoke on several panels at The Phoenix Forum today and yesterday, said that after considering all of his career options XCams emerged as the obvious choice.
“As the web cam unit manager for DNXNetwork, I would be able to draw on my 16-plus years of experience in the adult industry,” Richter told XBIZ. “Plus, since most of my career was in the live vertical, it was a natural fit.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the many great partners and models I have provided service for in the past, as well, sharing with them the valuable insights I have gained. I look forward to speaking with anyone and everyone who is looking to make more money with live webcams or simply optimize their existing live offer.
Previously, for the past seven years, Richter provided strategic consulting to Adult Webmaster Empire’s affiliate programs LiveJasmin.com and CameraBoys.com. Richter also is president of web development and consulting firm Bright Guys Inc.
Richter got his start in the biz in 1997 when he went to work for adult modeling Portfolio Studios in Minneapolis, which provided photo layouts for magazines such as Men, Freshmen and Unzipped and supplied Midwest gay bars with go-go boys and headliners.
“It turned out to be more than a modeling agency because they were also one of the early live cam studios and operated a small stable of models broadcasting feeds from their digs in the warehouse district,” Richter told XBIZ in an interview in 2012. “As an early adopter to chat boards and bulletin board forums, I found the webcams beyond interesting; you could literally connect live to beautiful people from your home or office. It brought real interactivity to web chatting; people could no longer hide behind fake profile pictures.”
Richter said that the new position at XCams means a personal change as well.
“It is an exciting opportunity to relocate to Europe,” he said.
