ASACP Honors Vince Charlton With Service Award

LOS ANGELES — ASACP's director of European outreach, Vince Charlton, is the latest winner of the association’s annual service recognition award.

An engraved crystal trophy representing the honor was bestowed upon Charlton by ASACP’s Executive Director, Tim Henning, at the 2014 XBIZ Awards, held last week in Los Angeles.

ASACP’s Service Recognition Award honors those volunteers that help the association to do an even more effective job of carrying out its mission to protect children and at-risk youth by leveraging ASACP’s limited budget to provide much needed assistance and services.

“Vince has been extremely helpful to the association over the past year, volunteering his time to help the cause of protecting kids from exposure to or involvement in adult entertainment,” Henning said. “His work with the Cameron government has been of immeasurable help to the legitimate online adult entertainment industry in ‘saving’ the U.K. as a viable market.”

As part of this effort, Charlton had numerous meetings with Cameron government reps including Claire Perry and ATVOD, plus U.K. ISPs, U.K. child protection organizations and experts as well as digital media business owners.

Charlton’s work over the past year has allowed ASACP to better reach the European region and beyond, with tireless campaigning on behalf of the association and the industry at large, bringing a message to stakeholders of proactive responsibility in lieu of stringent regulation.

Other highlights of Charlton’s accomplishments on ASACP’s behalf include obtaining several new sponsorships and memberships, and renewed the association’s relationship with the IWF (Internet Watch Foundation).

He also developed a relationship with Microsoft U.K.’s Head of Online Services, and represented ASACP at mainstream conferences including those held by FOSI EU and ATVOD, as well as adult entertainment industry events such as the Barcelona Summit, XBIZ EU in London and the EU Summit in Budapest.

Charlton also carried ASACP’s message to the public and other stakeholders, through BBC and BBC Radio interviews, extending the association’s voice throughout the region.

“I am quite honored to be recognized by an association I so deeply believe in,” Charlton said. “Doing the right thing is not always easy — but it does have its rewards [and awards].”

Previous ASACP Service Recognition Award winners include attorneys Lawrence Walters, Marc Randazza and Greg Piccionelli. Also honored were CyberStampede’s Rodney Thompson and Scott Rabinowitz, Epoch’s Joel Hall, Cydata's Brandon Shalton, adult film performers Stormy Daniels, Tera Patrick and Evan Seinfeld, as well as Fiona Patten and Robbie Swan of The Eros Association, and ASACP’s own Tim Henning.

Formally known as the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection, the group is a non-profit organization dedicated to online child protection. ASACP is comprised of two separate corporate entities, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection and the ASACP Foundation.
