Creativity in sex toy product development is at an all-time high with groundbreaking designs and technologies coming to the forefront at a rapid pace. Innovations such as 3D printing and sonic technology, along with a growing slate of additional engineering advancements, are changing the way we think about sex toys. The “On the Cutting Edge” session will cover all of the latest and upcoming trends in pleasure product design and technology.
Robin Elenga is founder and CEO of Revel Body. Guided by the belief that sexual wellbeing is core to health and happiness, Elenga embarked on a six-year-long quest to create the Revel Body Sonic Vibrator, and TrueSonicTechnology.
“TrueSonic Technology is the first of its kind new resonating motor with the sole purpose of providing better sexual vibration,” he said. “Designed exclusively to provide consumers more of what they want without the trade-offs, Revel Body features a greater range of vibration, speed, amplitude, power, less noise, battery life, reliability, comfort and ease of use.”
Topolovac, along with Crave co-founder Ti Chang, have assembled a strong team of designers, engineers, quality assurance testers and customer support enthusiasts. They took their groundbreaking design for the Duet directly to market in a first-in-the-category crowdfunding endeavor on the international design funding platform CKIE.com in August 2011. That effort raised $104,000 from over 950 backers — 694 percent of the original target and garnered significant attention across the web.
“As the stigma around the category falls away, customers are moving from low end novelties to modern products while demanding the same level of design and innovation that they expect from sophisticated mainstream brands," Topolovac said. "I think this shift defines both the challenge — but more importantly — the massive opportunity for the future of sex toys.”
Crave manufactures its products in-house in San Francisco, and operates an advanced R&D lab that allows the company to develop and rapidly test and iterate all product concepts, Topolovac said.
LELO is a leading designer brand for intimate lifestyle products. Launched in 2003, LELO is famous for transforming the look, feel and function of how personal massagers are perceived, bringing a new level of luxury to products of this kind.
We-Vibe is an international leader in designing and manufacturing high-quality, body-safe, eco-friendly intimate products. The original and signature couples’ product, We-Vibe, is regarded the fastest-selling sexual wellness product of its type.
Doctor Clockwork is renowned for its collection of electrical devices. Based in New Jersey, Dr. Clockwork injects carnival-barking kitsch to its unique Violet Wand, aka "medical oddity." In addition to the old-school packaging, the Dr. Clockwork violet wand weighs less than a pound, and has a slimmer, sleeker design than traditional mechanical wands.
PriveCo, “the world’s most private company,” operates Vibrators.com. Specializing in vibrators, the online retailer offers shoppers a wealth of information on vibrator types, materials, history, care and use, to make choosing and owning a vibrator easy and fun.
