BALTIMORE — The Komar Company is proud to announce the success of the 30th Annual Green Valley North Turkey Trot to benefit Crohn’s and Colitis Research. Event creator and Komar President Morton Hyatt is proud to report to date this event has raised more than $950,000 for the cause.
The charity running and family event takes place annually on Thanksgiving Morning and has become a Baltimore Tradition put on by the volunteer efforts of the Komar Staff. The morning includes charity auctions, special guests, kids entertainment, event t-shirts, a canned food drive, and door prizes all culminating around the main event, a 5 mile run / 3 mile walk.
The event began over 30 years ago when the event’s founder was diagnosed with Crohns Disease. Already an avid runner Mort Hyatt decided to turn his running group into a funding raising event. The first Trot raised just over $300 for the charity. In 2013 over 1,500 participants help raise more than $46,000, 100 percent of which was donated to Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Maryland Medical System to aide in their search for a cure.
