NEW YORK — “Sex and the City” scribe Jenny Bicks has signed on to help adapt “Hard,” a French porn-themed dark comedy, for HBO and Fox 21.
The show revolves around a Brentwood housewife who inherits her husband’s ailing porn company. She takes on the prodigious task of managing the biz while maintaining her “mainstream” life.
Former ABC honcho (and Francophone) Stephen McPherson is helping usher in the comedy, having optioned the rights to the original Canal Plus series from producer Gilles Galud.
According to Variety, “Hard” is in the early stage of development at HBO. Bicks, McPherson and Fishbowl Worldwide Media are serving as its executive producers.
The original “Hard,” starring Natacha Lindinger as the title character, debuted to critical acclaim in 2008 and had a follow-up season in 2011.
