LOS ANGELES — Reelz premium TV channel is premiering “Celebrity Sex Tapes,” the first installment of its Hollywood Scandal series, this Friday at 9 p.m.
Analyzing sex tape hall-of-famers Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Farrah Abraham and others, the producers spark a spirited inquiry between some of the biggest names in adult to answer “How did Hollywood celebrities become the biggest porn stars in the world? And are they victims — or willing participants?”
“I ... have the truth and I tell people that celebrities sign off on the tapes. I explain the laws of 2257” media personality Kevin Blatt told XBIZ.
Blatt, Vivid CEO Steven Hirsch and Hustler Founder Larry Flynt are among those queried in the TV doc.
Dubbed “Hollywood’s Sex Tape Broker” by New York Magazine for his integral role in disseminating the original erotic Paris Hilton footage, Blatt credits himself with starting the sizzle with sex tapes before they were commonplace.
Blatt believes that creating a sex tape has become a viable, socially acceptable business model for those wishing to make a name for themselves, but deplores what he says are lies about their organic origin concocted by profiteers.
“The funny part is that the general public eats it up via TMZ,” he said. “But you have to realize that the people who watch that show also watch ‘Honey Boo Boo.’”
“Paris, you’re worth a billion dollars now — own it,” he said, adding that Hilton did not initially intend to release the tape, but at some point signed off on it and reaped ample profits.
Blatt told XBIZ he now helps celebs keep their stolen sex tapes off the market.
"A-listers, people who make $30, $40 million, don't need to sell sex tapes," he said.
“Celebrity Sex Tapes” is set to air on Reelz Nov. 29 at 9 p.m. and will replay throughout the first week of Dec.
